AWS brings bots with their own memory to the Kiro Crew development environment

Each bot is a named, long-running agent with its own notes, its own permissions and parallel sessions.

AWS introduced bots for Kiro Crew on 5 November 2026. According to the Kiro blog, they are generally available. Kiro is AWS's development environment for agents, which the company launched in July 2025. Kiro Crew followed in August 2026.

According to AWS, a bot is a named, long-running agent for a specific part of the work, such as triaging new tickets or checking a release before it ships. Each bot has its own memory in the form of notes that developers can read and edit. It starts parallel sessions, monitors them and brings the results together in one chat. Tasks can be scheduled, for example a check of the build pipeline every 30 minutes.

Each bot receives only the tools and permissions assigned to it. It can request more permissions, but they only apply once the developer approves. Bots cannot hand work on to other bots. That is intentional, Kathy Kam, Director of Engineering for Agentic AI at AWS, told The New Stack (as of 7 November 2026). The human remains accountable, she said.

The description of the features comes from AWS. No independent tests are available so far.
